The Stuart Town Council consists of a Mayor and five council members, elected from the Town at large, who serve staggered terms of four years each. The Council elects a Vice Mayor from its membership. The Vice Mayor conducts town meetings in the Mayor’s absence. The Town Council is accountable for a variety of activities including: establishing priorities for Town programs and services; establishing administrative policy, adopting an annual budget, appropriating funds, establishing town tax rates, and enforcing the Town’s ordinances.
