The Town Council had their April meeting on April 19, 2017 in the Town Office.
The Town’s 2017 – 2018 budget proposal was discussed by the Town Council. The proposed budget does not contain any tax increases or additional utilities increases. (Automatic utilities increases were voted on 2 years ago and will remain in effect through 2019). The budget does include a 3% pay increase for town employees. The total Budget is $1,715,000.00 which is an increase of $20,500.00 over last year’s budget of $1,694,500.00. There was a $48,000 surplus that was divided up for the sewer plant project ($38,000) and Town Blight abatement ($10,000).
The budget surplus was created by the hard work and diligence of Town Manager Terry Tilley, Treasurer Susan Slate, and our water and sewer plant operators. They all deserve praise for saving money everywhere possible in preparation for our big projects ahead.
The Council voted to advertise the budget as amended and hold a public hearing on the budget during the May Town Council Meeting.
The Fire Department project floor plan drawings are in their final stages with a general floor plan that has been agreed upon by the Fire department committee. Engineering drawings for the relocation of fire sprinklers, air conditioning ductwork, electrical, plumbing, etc. will now be produced by our engineering firm and then we should be ready to put it out for bids.
There was no new information on the sewer plant project for this meeting.
The Council then voted to pay our bills, and then adjourn the meeting.
